Fukuyama New Castle Hotel

Too expensive for room quality, breakfast was not great either. Bathroom old and doesn’t work well.

The view of Fukuyama Castle and station is great. Room was quite comfortable.

Fukuyama New. Castle Hotel has seen better days. It smacks of former glory, now faded. Perhaps this is why, instead of closing the hotel for refurbishment, they chose to surreptitiously drill on the ground floor right around 10.45 p.m. on Saturday night, when they guessed most of the guests would be well asleep. Unfortunately for us, we were just drifting off when the drilling started. It was distant but penetrating and vibrating, and appeared somewhat furtive, stopping after about 30 seconds for a pause, presumably in the hope that no one would notice if they were not too noisy about their drilling. Two of us, in two separate rooms, phoned reception several times to complain about the noise. The reception staff lied to one of us, saying that it must be from nearby roadworks although we hadn't seen any roadworks, but finally admitted that they were drilling on the ground floor. One goes to a hotel to sleep, so the idea of finding that your hotel is undertaking renovations at night so they they don't have to close is ludicrous. We booked two rooms, each for two adults and one child. Although each room had a sofa bed in it, the bed was not made up, and when we asked why this was, they told us to pay for bedding for the sofa bed. The booking was for three people per room and yet they didn’t want to provide us with the bedding for the third bed unless we paid extra for it. In the end they relented, but only after arguing about it.We used the laundry room on the fourth floor, which was very confusing and required staff to unlock the machines. The room decor was also rather tired and could do with a makeover, although it all functioned adequately. Booking.com said that no refund would be given for the fact that our night's sleep was completely disrupted. Is this a hotel or a joke? It all rather smacks of Fawlty Towers. We do not recommend. Try the Daiwa Roynet Hotel next door - it's excellent.

Comfortable bathtub and cotton washcloth in the bathroom. Chinese restaurant in the hotel serves good Sichuan dishes.

Bedroom allowing smoking smells. Luckily we could change the rooms.

Big room, quiet, convenient location next to train and bus station. A few more minutes to the castle park and museums.I didn't think about a view when I booked, but for those who value such things, ask for an upper floor with a castle view.

Overall I genuinely don’t think the hotel could do any thing better in terms of management and cleanliness The only suggestion I can make is try and provide more English language tourist information about the area

Good room facilities. The staff's customer service is courteous. A panoramic view of Fukuyama Castle from the window. I wish I could have stayed longer.

All amenities needed were there. Very compact and pleasant hotel with an excellent location for bullet train users.

Close to the train station and restaurants. would like to explore the local area next time I visit. The castle looks beautiful. The room was large for Japan and comfortable. Breakfast was okay but the hotel restaurant was very good

I have stayed several times and like the location — wonderful view of the castle, on the Shinkansen line, easy access to Onomichi, close to the station, food and shopping at station.

We had the Fukuyama Castle view from our window so we could see the Dino eggs change colors and the light show along the wall and over at the church. A nice seasonal touch. The room was large and the hot water shower/soaking tub was wonderful. There were plenty of outlets for all our chargers.The hotel is right across the street from the JR Station which has a substantial food court and shopping options.

Breakfast was a little bit bland, though there was a selection of healthy options. Bar was closed (curse you, Covid-19).

They were able to accommodate our group of 12 (3 families). Location was great for food and access to train and transportation. Hotel was clean, and parking was convenient.

Buffet was only lunch and dinner, would have be nice to have a breakfast buffet. Price for dinner and lunch (adult price) was expensive.

Very good. Near the station with nice castle view. Room is big, comfortable and clean.
